Drifter

I thought
It
No
Use
To
Keep
Track,
The
Life
Would
Be
There
When
I came
Back.
One
Way
Led
To
Other
Ways,
Days
Grew
Into
Years,
Some
Hopes
Became
Tears
As
Laughter
Mastered
All,
Though
I had
Little
To
Show,
Until
It
Was
Too
Late
To
Go
Home.
I chose
To
Roam
Far
From
My
Start,
But
Left
Behind
A
Fragment
Of
My
Heart.

Sequence

Raining
Tonight
In
New
Mexico,
Gentle
And
Slow,
Hopefully
To
Make
The
Dry
Desert
Grow
Green
And
Not
Ignite
Like
In
Other
Years.
The
Mountain
Disappears
Behind
A
Mist,
Unable
To
Resist
These
Few
Tears,
Little
Enough
To
Hold
Back
The
Destructive
Fingers
Of
Fire,
Nature’s
Desire
To
Burn
What
We
Gain,
And
Ours
To
Yearn
For
Rain.

Pilgrim’s View

Climbing
High,
I saw
Long
Vistas
Where
My
Eye
Could
Rest,
Water
Contained,
Rain
Blessed,
In
Wide
Lakes
Clear
And
Clean,
The
Whole
Scene
Green,
Green
As
Hope,
Truth
Beyond
Scope,
And
Carefree
Youth.

Racing
To
Catch
Time,
I stumbled
And
Very
Slow,
Fell
Into
Thirty
Years
Ago.
There
I was
On
A
Train,
Crossing
From
France
Into
Spain,
Gallic
Greens
Turning
To
The
Grisaille
Glow
Of
Picasso.
The
Colors
Soaked
Into
My
Brain,
And
The
Vision
Remains
Of
Speeding
Always
Down
Steel
Hallways,
The
Then
And
Now
Me,
Headed
For
The
Distant
Sea.

Fresh
Faced
Mr.
Zuckerberg,
With
His
Freckles
And
Boyish
Grin,
Has
Done
Us
In.
Our
Humble
Data
Has
Been
Peddled
To
The
Ruskies,
Who
Meddled
In
The
Election,
Impacting
Our
Selection.
Who
Really
Won?
How
Can
We
Know?
Should
I stay
Or
Go,
But
Where
Can
I find
An
Electronic
Friend,
If
Facebook
Comes
To
An
Ignominious
End?

You
Can’t
Disappear,
They
Have
Years
On
Film.
There’s
No
Escape,
They
Caught
You
On
Tape.
Anyway,
Old
Man,
You
May
Last
For
Years,
The
Creaking
Perfection
Of
Political
Deception.
But
After
You
Go
Every
Base
Act
Will
Show,
And
The
World
Will
Know
You
For
A
Lying
Creep
And
Dangerous
Erratic,
And
Vote
Democratic.

*Fruits of the Jellyfish Tree*
Mythos

I am
Come
From
Beyond
The
Eastern
Sea,
Sent
Here
To
Marry
My
Lord
He,
But
This
Shall
Never
Be.
I carry
A
Seed
From
The
Jellyfish
Tree,
Quite
Enough
To
Poison
Me.
To
Wed
This
Warrior
Man
And
Live
Under
His
Command,
I will
Not
Withstand.
When
I am
Dead,
A
Jellyfish
Tree
Will
Grow
From
My
Head,
To
Rescue
Maidens
Such
As
Me,
Who
Would
Leave
The
Flesh,
And
Set
The
Spirit
Free.

Civics

It’s
My
Guess
Half
The
Nation
Is
Suffering
Mute
Distress
Over
The
Constant
Washington
Mess,
Wishing
Somebody
Would
Say
The
Word
To
Relieve
Us
Of
President
Absurd.
This
Isn’t
A
Low
Brow
TV
Show,
The
Fool
Has
Got
To
Go,
Retire
Far
Away,
To
Play
With
Porndolls
And
Toy
Tanks,
And
The
Whole
World
Will
Give
Hearty
Thanks.

Another Spring

The
Pear
Trees
Are
Blooming
In
New
Mexico
And
I remember
Others
From
Long
Ago,
Among
The
Busy
Flow
Of
Second
Avenue,
Gracing
My
City
View.
From
My
Tenth
Floor
Studio,
I watched
Them
Grow
Pink
And
White
Far
Below,
Bringing
A
Spring
Glow
To
Thirty
Third
Street,
Petals
Dropping
To
Brighten
The
Concrete.
