Friday

Morning
Begins
Tree
Top
High
As
Leaves
Filter
A
Pale
Sky.
The
Dutiful
Rise
From
Their
Beds,
Shake
Sleepy
Heads,
And
Assume
The
Daily
Load
As
Traffic
Thickens
The
Battered
Roads.
On
The
Morning
News
The
Pictures
They
Choose
Show
Necklaces
Of
Headlights
Piercing
The
Lingering
Night,
A
Fragile,
Lonesome
Sight,
Like
Diamonds
Someone
Shirked
On
The
Way
To
Work.

Looking Up

The
Brain
In
My
Skull
Mimics
The
Nut
In
The
Shell,
Formed
By
The
Blossom
Under
The
Leaf,
Child
Of
The
Branch
Trunked
To
The
Root,
Bound
To
The
Earth’s
Crust
In
An
Iron
Rhythm
Coupled
To
A
Magnetic
Sun,
All
Rounds
To
Coherence
In
A
Single
Thought.

Lo,
If
You
Fall
For
Their
Sanctified
Jingle
And
Join
Christian
Mingle,
Beware.
‘Tired
Of
Being
Single?’
They
Slyly
Ask,
‘Looking
For
That
Divine
Her
Or
Him
Out
There?’
What
A
Task.
Or
Perhaps,
They
Subtly
Imply,
A
Biblical
Affair?
All
You
Have
To
Do
Is
Click,
And
God’s
Computer
Geeks
Will
Do
The
Trick.
I think
It’s
Sick
And
Phony.
The
Jesus
Connection
Is
A
Lot
Of
Baloney.
Save
Your
Money,
And
Wait
For
Fate,
Honey,
This
Is
Sucker
Bait.
Loves
Friendship,
So
Delicate
And
Brief,
Is
A
Stranger
To
An
Online
Thief.

Autumn

Dawn
Breaks
As
Echoing
Thunder
Rolls
Over
And
Under.
The
Mountain
Shakes,
The
House
Quakes.
Up
This
High,
We
Intrude
Into
The
Sky,
And
Sense
Every
Lofty
Ripple
As
It
Passes
By.
Though
Built
On
Tilting
Sand,
My
Desert
Town
Still
Stands.
The
Clouds
Open
Cupped
Hands
And
Lets
Fall
Once
Again,
Precious
Rain.

Rain

The
Sun
Rises
At
A
Slant
To
The
Right
But
Can’t
Gain
Height
Or
Escape
The
Dark
Blue
Shroud
Of
Dense
Cloud.
The
Light
Fails
And
Withdraws
In
Bright
Trails.
The
Wind
Rises,
Leaves
Fall,
And
Today,
No
Birds
Call.
Rain.
Again,
Rain.

'Garden'
New Canvas

Solitude
Comes,
With
Its
Veil
Of
Gloom,
And
Occupies
A
Corner
Of
The
Room.
The
Twin,
Loneliness,
Saunters
In
And
Takes
A
Chair.
Regrets
Bloom
Everywhere,
In
A
Field
Of
Cares.
I must
Labor
To
Forget
These
Ghosts,
Art’s
Silent
Hosts
And
A
Creators
Saints,
And
Paint.

Work

Tighten
Up,
I think,
Cleaning
The
Sink.
Loosen
Up,
I muse,
To
Choose
Words
That
Say
How
I fare
Today.
Discipline
And
Ease.
Each
Has
The
Power
To
Please.
Balance
Is
The
Key
And
Determines
What
Will
Be.
Easily
Said,
Harder
Done,
To
Make
Both
Necessities
One.

Desert
Wind
Tonight,
Booming
With
Increasing
Force,
Pushing
A
Course
Through
The
Canyon,
And
Rushing
Over
The
Mountain
Crest
To
Hurry
West.
The
Knowing
City
Darkens,
Pausing
To
Rest,
Secure
For
Centuries
In
The
Dust
Laden
Gale,
And
Scattered
October
Hail.

Evening News

In
Denmark
Everyone
Is
Happy,
It’s
Said.
No
One
Is
Poor,
They
Have
No
Constant
War,
Jobs
Are
There
And
The
Government
Strives
To
Care
For
The
Sick
And
The
Old,
Laying
On
Municipal
Gold.
No
Rampant
Crime
Or
Guns
Or
Drunken
Bums
Abroad
In
Fleets,
Terrorizing
The
Streets.
I have
To
Say,
Life
In
The
USA
Can
Be
Rough,
And
Citizens
Must
Be
Tough.
Denmark,
What
A
Lark.
If
It
Wasn’t
For
The
Snow,
I just
Might
Go.

Do Not Fold

Hi,
Ho,
To
The
Polls
We
Will
Go,
Once
More
To
Fulfill
The
Political
Spin,
And
Drop
Our
Vote
In.
How
To
Choose
From
Actors
All
Around?
Polished
And
Glib,
They
Boldly
Fib
To
Shape
And
Gratify
Our
Expectations
Of
Who
Should
Be
Elected
To
Rule
The
Nation.
When
Selected,
Their
Hubris
And
Vanity
Satisfied,
They
Then
Will
Step
Aside,
And
The
Money
And
The
Guns
Will
Hold
Sway,
Just
Like
Today.
