Daysong

Why
Not
Quit
Working,
Remarked
Someone,
All
Breezy,
And
Take
It
Easy?
Let
It
Slide,
Let
All
You’ve
Done
Ride.
What,
I thought,
Retire,
And
Let
The
Fire
Consume
Itself,
While
I sit
On
The
Shelf?
No.
Even
Though
I’ve
Few
Prizes
To
Show,
I’ll
Offer
Up
A
Crumb
Of
Joy
And
Woe
Until
My
Final
Day.
With
Nothing
Else
To
Say,
This
Dead
Soul
Walked
Away.

*...and here he is.*
Manhattan

One
Afternoon
On
East
Eighty
Second
Street
I chanced
To
Meet
At
An
Intersection,
When
He
Stepped
In
My
Direction,
That
Literary
Confection,
Tom
Wolfe,
In
A
White
Suit
And
Wide
Planters
Hat,
Also
White.
It
Was
Quite
A
Sight,
Rather
A
Fashion
Fright,
But
Not
Recognizing
Him
At
First,
I admired
His
Chutzpah
And
Said,
Love
Your
Hat.
He
Ignored
Me,
And
That
Was
That.
Forgot
To
Mention
His
Pink
Polka
Dot
Cravat.

Robot
Man
With
Metal
Hands
That
Span,
Ball
Bearing
Eyes
That
Scan,
Built
To
Replace
The
Human
Who
Fails
To
Under
Stand
A
Beating
Heart
Is
What
Makes
Us
Smart,
And
Steel
Gears
Cannot
Cry
Tears.

Dear
Editor:
The
Email
That
You
Sent,
Leaving
Me
Slightly
Bent,
Turned
Down
My
Book,
At
Which
You
Had
Eight
Months
To
Look,
And
Rejected,
As
You
Were
Well
Able,
Calling
My
Stuff
A
Fable!
Lord
Above,
A
Story
Of
Death
And
Love?
Okay,
I must
Politely
Say,
But
Mark
My
Word,
You
Literary
Turd,
You
Skunk,
To
Class
The
Work
As
Junk,
I’m
Bidding
You
Good
Bye,
To
Give
Some
One
More
Sensible
A
Try,
And
Every
Word
You
Read
I’m
Sure
Will
Knock
‘Em
Dead.

Supper

Pass
A
Salt
Shaker
Of
Words
To
Season
The
Conversational
Meat,
And
Wine
To
Amuse
Us
While
We
Eat.
Dinner
Guests,
When
Lightly
Pressed,
Gaily
Relate
Gossip
Of
The
Absent
Great,
Those
Not
Able
To
Share
Tonight’s
Lavish
Fare.
When
The
Hour
Grows
Late,
I show
Them
Out
The
Gate,
Glad
To
Anticipate
Quiet
After
The
Evening
Riot.

Remembering
The
Dead,
Dismembered
By
Death.
A
Slender
Breadth,
A
Picture
Puzzle
Tableau
Forms
And
Fades
Into
Shade,
But
For
Split
Time,
I see
Them
Again
In
Their
Prime,
And
Their
Love
Is
Once
Again
Mine.

Makes

And
Washes
The

Cleanly

Chaos, Entropy!

Chaos, Entropy!

Today,
I jarred
The
Breakfast
Tray,
Knocking
Glasses
Every
Which
Way.
Water,
Orange
Juice
And
Milk
Tipped
Over
And
Spilled
Like
Wet
Silk
Over
The
Table
Edge
And
My
Chair
While
I stood
There.
As
The
Sun
Rose
Above
The
Mountain
Top,
I was
Busy
With
The
Mop.
Some
Day,
I’m
Going
To
Run
Away.

"O Tempora O Mores"

“O Tempora O Mores”

This
Last
Week
Dear
Cousin
Bea,
You
Remember
Her,
Haughty
As
Could
Be,
Boarded
Her
Private
Yacht,
Sailed
Off
To
The
Vineyard,
And
On
Tuesday
Last,
I was
Told,
Just
After
Three,
Sank
Into
The
Sea.
You
Hadn’t
Heard?
I hate
To
Bring
The
Word.
Have
Another
Tot,
Why
Not?
The
Wake
Was
A
Show,
I’ll
Have
You
Know,
The
Heirs
Positively
Aglow.
“What
A
Way
To
Go,
On
A
Snazzy
Boat,”
I heard
One
Murmur
As
He
Passed.
“At
Least
The
Old
Goat
Went
Down
In
First
Class.”
Here’s
To
Bea.
She
Didn’t
Leave
A
Cent
To
Me.

*Canyon* Pen And Ink On Paper
Tempest

In
The
Night
The
Winds
Came,
Shook
The
House
Frame
And
In
A
Mighty
Swell,
Worried
The
Trees
And
Branches
Fell.
Strange
To
Tell,
Since
The
Cloudless
Sky
Gave
No
Clue
Until
Dark,
When
For
A
Lark,
A
Gale
Stole
The
Day,
And
Blew
Summer
Away.
