Caregiver

Caregiver

For
One
Hour
Last
Week,
A
Powerful
Potion
Put
My
Existence
On
An
Inner
Ocean.
A
Man
With
Massive
Hands
Held
My
Head
And
Tended
My
Breath,
Resisting
The
Greedy
Claw
Of
Death.
And
When
He
Let
Me
Go,
I returned
To
All
I know,
Almost
The
Same,
A
Player
In
The
Medical
Game.

Uncertain

There’s
No
Limit,
I regret,
To
How
Bad
Things
May
Get.
Lately,
I fall
Asleep
In
Front
Of
The
TV
Set.
Admittedly,
I work
Hard
All
Day
Long,
But
It’s
Wrong
If
I take
A
Break,
And
Can’t
Stay
Awake.
Where
Is
The
Rogue
Of
Yesterday,
That
Never
Got
Enough
Of
Play,
And
Danced
Their
Youth
Away?
Still
In
The
Food
Chain,
For
What
Adventures
May
Remain.
Still
Treading
Art’s
Exotic
Air,
But
Often,
From
A
Reclining
Chair.

Confession

When
I was
A
Wild
Child,
I bumped
Off
My
Newly
Acquired
Kitty
By
Deciding
It
Needed
A
Bath
To
Be
Pretty.
It
Didn’t,
And
That
Was
That
For
The
Cat.
I recall
The
Lesson
Of
It
All
Was,
It
Quickly
Leads
To
Regret
To
Get
A
Feline
Wet.

Then

The
Memory
Lingers
Of
Stained
Lips
And
Fingers,
Eating
Wild
Blackberries
Along
A
Country
Road,
Near
The
Farmhouse
We
Shared,
When
We
Both
Cared.
I now
Wash
Berries
From
The
Store,
And
My
Hands
Stay
Clean.
That
Rural
Lane
May
Still
Be
Freshly
Green,
And
Perhaps
Those
Canes
Yet
Remain,
Heavy
With
Fruit
Among
The
Tall
Grass,
To
Nourish
Lovers
As
They
Pass.

Suggestion

When
You
Discover
Your
Lover
In
Flagrante
With
Another,
What
To
Say
Or
Do?
Such
A
Bore
To
Simply
Throw
The
Beggar
Out
The
Door.
His
Vanity
Provokes
Intense
Profanity,
But
Icy
Silence
Is
A
Spicy
Form
Of
Domestic
Violence.
Starch
His
Boxers,
Burn
The
Beans,
Use
Any
Means
To
Bring
Him
Grief,
And
Let
Him
Know
That
He’s
A
Thief.

Enough
Of
That,
Hand
Him
His
Hat,
A
Brown
Recluse
Of
Renowned
Dread
Waiting
Between
The
Sweatband,
And
His
Faithless
Head.

Wet

No
Outdoor
Tasks
Today,
The
Rain
Has
Washed
Them
All
Away.
Chill
Grey
Pushes
Fair
Spring
Aside,
And
A
Metallic
Scent
Rides
The
Air.
Through
Mist,
A
Yellow
School
Bus
Coasts
By,
Like
A False
Sun
In
An
Asphalt
Sky.

Calamity

Calamity

Today
In
Kathmandu,
The
Buildings
Fell
Two
By
Two,
It’s
Achingly
True,
As
Natures
Wrath
Violated
Buddha’s
Solemn
Path.
Holy
Earth
Shivered
Like
Troubled
Waters,
Crushing
Random
Sons
And
Daughters.
The
Great
Mountain,
Its
Grandeur
Vexed
By
Insulting
Tools
And
Ice
Axed
Fools,
Remains
Frozen
Cruel,
Shows
All
Her
Sacred
Teeth,
And
Watches
As
Climbers
Fall,
To
Be
Lost,
Like
Broken
Nepal.
