*Rene Magritte* Not To Reproduced 1937
Put
Your
Book
Upon
The
Shelf,
And
Try
To
Really
See
Yourself.
And
What
Is
There?
A
Mop
Of
Hair,
A
Little
Suit,
But
Does
It
Just
Contain
A
Brute?
How
Well
Can
You
Apprehend
The
Injuries
That
Never
Mend,
That
You
Have
Seen
Go
Down
In
Your
Town?
Who
Is
The
Victim
Of
The
Iron
Hand
That
Seeks
To
Punish
But
Not
To
Understand
Anothers
Pain
And
Woe?
Look
And
Look,
And
Realize
How
Far
We
Have
To
Go
To
Make
Injustice
Right
Or
Be
Forever
Without
Light.

*White Horse Mesa* 24" H X 30" W Oil On Linen
Out
Here
In
The
High
Desert,
I Can
Breathe
Clear,
The
Hurt
And
Fear
Of
Crowded
City
Blues
Contained
In
Cable
News.
But
When
The
Wind
Is
Right,
I Smell
The
Urban
Rage
And
Heat,
And
Hear
The
Death
Knell
In
The
Closing
Of
Hope’s
Gate,
When
Nothing
Can
Survive
But
Angry
Hate.

*Relic 2* 30" H X 24" W Acrylic On Canvas
I Piece
Together
Shards
Of
The
Past,
Like
Bones
Of
Time
That
Somehow
Last.
I Had
No
Way
To
Know
How
Life
Would
Go,
Or
How
This
And
That
Tableau
Would
Remain,
Buried
With
Honor
In
My
Brain.

The
Plank
Fence
Across
The
Way
Changes
Every
Day.
The
Slats
Are
Not
Exactly
Flat,
And
Shadows
Rise,
Forming
Faces,
Eyes,
And
Noses,
In
Between,
That
Sag
And
Lean
As
The
Light
Rearranges
Everything.

*Poster* 30" H X 24" W Printed
Today,
I May
Comb
The
Moths
From
My
Hair,
But
I’m
Not
Going
Anywhere.
Death
Is
Waiting
Outside
The
Door,
As
I Whisper
The
Word,
‘Nevermore’,
But
Like
That
Bird
And
The
Late
Mr.
Poe,
I Really
Have
Nowhere
To
Go.

*Woman In Wood* 40" H X 30" W Acrylic On Canvas
Up
Against
The
Wall
Today,
Feeling
Small,
Wishing
The
World
Would
Go
Away.
Where
Are
My
Heroic
Deeds,
Writing
Words
That
No
One
Reads?
Holding
Up
My
Tattered
Flag
Now
And
Then
Becomes
A
Drag,
But
I Trudge
On,
Surviving
In
My
Head,
And
By
The
Gods,
I Will
Until
I’m
Dead.

Picture
I Hit
The
Road
At
Seven,
Until
I Was
Near
Eleven,
In
The
Back
Seat
With
My
Brother
And
The
Dog.
Every
Other
Soul
There
Is
Everywhere,
Though
Dead,
And
In
My
Head,
I Still
Ride
The
Same
Wide,
Unreal,
Road,
Now
The
Traveler
At
The
Wheel.

Afraid
To
Be
Merely
Ordinary,
Mary
Tap
Danced
In
The
Bar,
Yearning
To
Become
A
Star.
Finally,
A
Cruel
Fate
Opened
The
Celebrity
Gate,
And
Our
Dear
Mary
Found
Herself
Suddenly
Moved
To
The
Top
Shelf.
Where
Did
She
Go,
We’d
Like
To
Know,
The
Girl
Who
Twirled
Between
The
Mugs
Of
Beer?
We
Liked
Her,
And
Wish
She
Was
Still
Here.

*Angel 5* 36" H X 30" W Acrylic On Canvas
The
Dark
Angel
Of
Death
Is
Over
The
Land,
Menacing
Our
Lives
With
Every
Breath,
Leaving
Us
With
Nowhere
To
Stand.
We
Stay
In
Place,
And
Cover
Our
Face,
But
What
To
Do
About
The
Stupid
Few
Who
Snicker?
Likely,
They
Will
Die
Quicker.

*Painting Valley* Woman At A Window
Listening
For
The
Traffic
Hum,
That
Every
Day
Fails
To
Come.
A
Distant
Peace
Beckons,
Though
Briefer
Than
The
Iris,
That
Takes
So
Long
To
Bloom,
Silence
In
My
Room
Reckons
It
Will
Stay
Until
The
Virus
Goes
Away.
