My
Country
‘Tis
Of
Thee,
Thou
Art
A
General
Mess,
Thy
Citizen’s
Have
All
Regressed
To
The
Mean,
Confronted
By
The
Dismal
Scene
Of
Our
Brave
Flag
Diminishing,
Freedom
Finishing,
As
This
Frail
Democracy
Fades,
Soiled
By
Myriad
Mistakes
False
Leaders
Made.

Picture
Workers
Today,
Tearing
The
Old
Porch
Roof
Away,
Debris
Falling
Below,
Peppering
The
Patio.
Jingle
Jangle
Radio
Refrains
As
The
Men
Climb
Down
And
Up
Again.
Cries
In
Spanish
And
Lots
Of
Good
Cheer,
I’ll
Owe
Thirty
Two
Hundred
Dollars
When
They
Leave
Here.
But
The
Roof
Won’t
Dribble,
So
I Can’t
Quibble.

Picture
Poor
Blossom,
Broken
By
The
Rain,
Could
Stand
For
Our
Collective
Pain.
Chaos,
Chaos,
Sorrow
And
Fear
Hover
Near.
Blatant
Lies
From
Those
We
Chose,
Locked
In
Their
Patriotic
Pose,
Lack
And
Disorder,
Back
To
Back.
We
Must
Salvage
What
We
Can,
Understand
And
Fully
Know,
What
Breaks
Today,
Tomorrow
Will
Regrow.

*Monsoon Sky* 16" H X 20" W Oil On Linen
Rain
In
New
Mexico
Is
An
Event,
Downright
Heaven
Sent.
Folks
Don’t
Hide,
They
Step
Right
Outside
And
Stand
In
It
Like
Crops,
Soaking
Up
The
Precious
Drops.
This
All
Collects
On
Mountain
Tops,
Flows
Down
The
Sandy
Hills,
Arroyos
Fill
And
Flood
In
Rivers
Of
Mud,
The
Rio
Grande
Rushes
It
All
By,
And
In
The
Twilight,
We’re
Totally
Dry.
Tomorrow,
We’ll
All
Again
Complain,
Is
It
Ever
Going
To
Rain?

Your Curtsey, My Bow

Please,
Thank
You,
Pardon
Me,
I Am
Chastised
For
Lack
Of
Domestic
Courtesy.
Unhappily,
I Walk
Around
In
A
Dream,
And
Forget,
With
Intimates,
The
Proper
Sentiments.
I Am
The
Soul
Of
Punctilio
Everywhere
I Go,
Am
Never
Slow
With
Strangers,
But
Am
A
Slob
At
Home,
It
Seems.
Damn,
What
An
Ox
I Am.

*Gemmy Woud-Binnendijk*
In
The
Night,
Fantasy
Takes
Flight.
Fragrant
Winds
In
Her
Face,
Attired
In
A
Cloud
Of
Lace,
She
Will
Drift
Into
Your
Room
To
Erase
The
Daily
Gloom.
Welcome
Her
When
She
Comes
In,
Silent,
Fragile,
To
Begin
A
Regimen
Of
Dreams
That
Nourish,
And
Allow
Your
Life
To
Flourish.

*Bill Risbourg* Pojaque Desert Night
There
Are
Voices
In
The
Cooler,
That
In
The
Quiet,
Raise
A
Riot
Of
Whispered
Words.
When
There’s
Other
Noise,
They
Go
Unheard.
In
The
Silence,
I Listen
For
Verbal
Violence,
But
All
They
Eagerly
Say
Fades
Gently
Away.
I Know
I Only
Hear
The
Flow
Of
Water
Dropping
Slow,
Answering
My
Nightly
Questions,
And
Murmuring
All
I Need
To
Know.

*Laura Spring* Distant Fires
A
Smudge
Of
Overcast
From
Distant
Fires
Mars
The
View.
In
The
Gila,
Two
Burn
As
Morning
Winds
Turn
To
Sweep
Up
The
Smoke
Like
Blackened,
Billowing,
Snow,
To
Blow
Anywhere
It
Will
Go.
It
Draws
A
Curtain,
Dim
But
Certain
As
A
Veil,
Then
Scatters
Far
Away,
To
Cloud
Somebody
Else’s
Day.

So
Many
Things
Have
Lately
Gone
So
Wrong,
It
Drowns
Out
Every
Hopeful
Song,
And
I Have
Moments
When
Futility
Can
Creep
Into
My
Bed
To
Steal
My
Sleep.
Rampant
Cruelty
And
Dishonor
In
The
Land
We
Can
No
Longer
Stand,
Idle
As
Sheep.
It
Is
Enough
To
Make
An
Angel
Weep.

*She-Who-Listens* Carved Pine / Poplar Base 12" H
Today
Is
Made
Of
Intermittent
Sun
And
Shade,
All
Dressed
Up
By
Summer
Grass
And
Trees
On
This,
A
Day
Of
Restless
Ease.
Darkness
Waits
Outside
The
Gates
And
Lately,
We’ve
Been
Overtaken,
And
All
Our
Senses
Badly
Shaken.
I Sit
Down
And
Discard
A
Frown,
Well
Aware
My
Worst
Enemy
Is
A
Worried
Me.
