I saw
Today
The
Beloved
Face
Of
Lincoln,
On
A
Humble
Copper
Coin,
Wedged
Where
The
Sidewalk
And
Street
Join.
The
Crags
And
Seams
Of
His
Cheeks
Have
Altered
Every
Generation
To
Suit
The
Whim
Of
The
Nation,
And
Present
A
Smoother
View
Than
The
Actual
Photograph.
Mister
Lincoln
Would
Laugh
If
He
Knew
What
Foolish
Things
We
Still
Do,
And
It’s
Hard
Luck
To
Only
Rate
A
Penny,
And
Not
A
Buck.
