An ugly
Dog
Is laying
Flat out
In a
Shabby
Back yard.
He’s too lazy
To get up
But raises
His bull head
And looks
Threatening.
The house
Needs paint.
In the sandy
Front yard,
Two skinny
Children
Are digging
A hole.
From
Somewhere,
Mexican
Music plays.
Two cowboys
Push
The stranded
Pickup
To the side
And I
Drive on.
